Sacha Baron Cohen prevails in another defamation suit

It seems that the man who brought us "Borat" and is about to bring us "Bruno" has dodged the defamation bullet again. Here's an excerpt from the ruling last week by a trial court judge in LA:
No reasonable person could consider the statements made by Ali G on the [offending] program to be factual. To the contrary, it is obvious that the Ali G character is absurd, and all his statements are gibberish and intended as comedy.
The word "absurd" is used repeatedly in the ruling. Indeed, at this point in his career, it is difficult to imagine Sacha Baron Cohen being involved in any production that is not patently absurd and therefore unlikely to be perceived as conveying factually accurate content.
