Dangerous Fast-Food Playgrounds
According the the Centers for Disease Control, 200,000 children are treated every year for injuries they suffered at playgrounds. One tragic example is that of 8-year-old Jacob Buckett who was climbing a play structure at Burger King, lost his grip, and cracked his head on the tile floor. Burger King settled the lawsuit for his traumatic brain injury for $20 million. While the Consumer Product Safety Commission has guidelines and regulations for playgrounds and has taken action against fast-food restaurants that violate the rules, it lacks sufficient resources to enforce the rules.
