Madoff Liable for Suicides?

Financier Bernard Madoff is pleading guilty to cheating investors out of $64.8 billion over a 20-year period. Many of his clients have lost their entire life savings and retirement funds. According to a recent article, in the three months since Madoff's arrest, at least two of his clients have committed suicide over their losses. Should Madoff be liable for their suicides?
